Fattoria di Palazzo Vecchio

The winw-farm The Fattoria of Palazzo Vecchio is situated in the Valiano area; the Val di Chiana separating it from Montepulciano standing at an altitude of 350 mt it boasts a splendid all round view which embraces both Montepulciano and Cortona. This elevated position ensures a ventilated climate in the surrounding vineyards, a natural defence against bacterial maladies. At present the farming estate consists of a cultivation area of 85 hectares, 25 of which are vineyards reserved for the production of Vino Nobile.

Products The Fattoria di Palazzo Vecchio annually produces around 350 hectolitres of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, aged for approximately 2 years in French oak barrels. The aim is to increase production to 450 hectolitres per annum. Since 1997, in addition to Vino Nobile, the farm offers Rosso dell'Abate Chiarini, a Tuscan I.G.T wine (Indication of geographical region), made from grapes of Prugnolo Gentile and Merlot vines. A limited production of Vin Santo and extra virgin olive oil complete the range of products.
